Inhaltsangabe
This text emphasizes program development, using C++ for implementation of general programming concepts. It also introduces accepted techniques of structured program development such as top-down design, modularity, encapsulation, and data abstraction. No previous programming experience is assumed. With regard to object-oriented programming (OOP) concepts, the author introduces "objects" early, grouping together behaviours and properties in a special Object Charts section; however, students are not obliged to use "classes" (the C++ implementation of objects) until later. Features an in-text learning system of chapter previews, memory diagrams, object summaries, execution charts, marginal notes and boxes that demonstrate and teach C++ features.
