About the Author: Lynda Wee Keng Neo is a Visiting Faculty at the Edwin L Cox Business School, Southern Methodist University at Dallas, United States. Her interests are Entrepreneurship, Marketing, Retailing, and Education. Dr Wee holds the concurrent post of a Consultant (Special Projects), Principal's Office at the Republic Polytechnic in Singapore. A founding member of the Retail Professionals Network in Singapore, Dr Wee is actively involved with the retail industry. Her retail consultancy includes retailers in Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand. She was also awarded a grant from the Pew Charitable Trust, Samford University, USA for her Problem-Based Learning portfolio in 2001. A columnist for the Retail Intelligence segment in the Retail Asia magazine, Dr Wee is also Associate Editor for the Singapore Management Review and the Reflections on PBL newsletter, and a reviewer for the Journal of Problem-Based Learning. She has co-authored five books published by Prentice Hall: Managing the Brick-and-Mortar Retail Stores; Budding Ideas At Work; Authentic Problem-Based Learning: Rewriting Business Education; A Problem-Based Learning Module On Managing People At Work: A Learning Resource For Students; and Jump Start Authentic Problem-Based Learning. Tong Kok Wing is the General Manager of Parco Bugis Junction Shopping Mall in Singapore. He holds the concurrent post of General Manager (Retail Management) of Keppel Land International Limited in Singapore.Kok Wing graduated with a Bachelor degree in Estate Management from the University of Singapore and a Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK). He is a founding member and committee member of the Retail Professionals Network in Singapore.Kok Wing's interest in shopping centres is underscored by his 25 years' experience in the development, marketing, and management of a number of well-known and successful shopping centres. Most recently, he was President, The Association of Shopping Centres (Singapore) from 1997 to 2000 and remains as a Council Member since stepping down. He is Advisor to the Street Market Committee of Chinatown Business Association. A highly regarded mall veteran in the shopping centres industry in Asia, he is instrumental in the development, management, and positioning of Parco Bugis Junction Mall as a leading shopping centre in Singapore. In 2003, he led a team of staff to conceptualise and implement a marketing campaign, 'I Feel Good at Parco Bugis Junction', at the time when Singapore was severely affected by the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). This effort won a Maxi Merit Award in the Community Service category.His active contribution to the shopping centres industry included a pivotal role in a landmark case in the Singapore High Court, which ruled in favour of the industry against the Chief Assessor. The case argued that the tenants' contribution of Advertising and Promotion Fund was not part of rental revenue and therefore should not be included in Annual Value.
