Original gilt-titled blue cloth in colour illustrated jacket 30x41cm. Covers near fine lightly bumped to corners, interiors fine, jacket very good with several small indentations and some creasing at the edges. Professor Ali Al-Shamlan, KFAS Director General, conceived the idea at a Harvard Conference in August 1991, during which Dr Farouk El-Baz (Center for Remote Sensing, Boston University) illustrated the environmental effects of the Gulf War using satellite imagery. The Atlas was produced over a 2 year period by El-Baz, and Dr Mohammad Al-Sarawi of Kuwait University. It covers a background to satellite imagery and description of the Arabian Peninsula; Kuwait's physical and human environment; the environmental effects of the Gulf War; a geographic classification of Kuwait's provinces; and a list of sources.
