This novel is the sequel to Jules Verne's 'From the Earth to the Moon', an exciting science fiction novel which continues the trip to the Moon after a group have been fired out of the Columbiad space gun.'Doctor Ox' is a collection of four short tales by, first published in this collection in 1874. The titular tale is the best known, a humorous sci-fi story which discusses the brilliant experiments by Dr. Ox, set in an imaginary village in Belgium. Dr. Ox later appears as the villain in Verne's 1882 play 'Journey Through the Impossible'. The tale is thought to have inspired H. G. Wells in writing 'The Food of the Gods'. In a quarter calf binding with paper to the boards. Externally, generally smart, with light rubbing to the boards and spine. A small amount of loss to the head of the spine, and a little loss of paper to the extremities. Light bumping to the extremities. Spine is a little discoloured.
