O superlibris do Duque de La Force é provavelmente mais recente do que a encadernação (Auguste Armand de La Force, 1878 - 1961, historiador dos assuntos genealógicos dos séculos XVI e XVII). Profusamente ilustrado no texto, intercalado com gravuras xilográficas contendo reproduções epigráficas romanas e antigas, retratos dos reis e imperadores, moedas, marcas e cunhos, e gravuras com panoramas, heráldica, etc. Primeira edição em Latim, de uma história da Batávia, o nome latino para os Países Baixos, embora o subtítulo aqui o restrinja aos territórios do norte que pertenciam à jovem República Holandesa: Betuwe, Holanda, Zelândia, Frísia, Utrecht (província) e Gelderland. The superlibris of the Duke de La Force is probably more recent than the binding (Auguste Armand de La Force, 1878 - 1961, historian of genealogical subjects of the 16th and 17th centuries). Abundantly illustrated within the text (and the text interspersed) with woodcut engravings containing Roman epigraphic reproductions; portraits of kings and emperors; coins; brands; and mintmarks; and engravings with panoramas; Dutch heraldry, etc. First edition (first issue), in the original Latin, of a history of Batavia, the Latin name for the Low Countries, though the subtitle here restricts it to the northern territories that belonged to the young Dutch Republic: the Betuwe, Holland, Zeeland, Friesland, Utrecht (province) and Gelderland. It contains works by several different authors, opening with a brief letter by the compiler, the Dutch historian Petrus Scriverius (1576-1660), who wrote several historical works on the Low Countries. The first section is a history of Batavia, containing two works by Gerardus Noviomagus, also known as Gerardus Geldenhouwer (1482-1542). Next come two treatises dealing with the origin of the Batavians and other matters, written by Cornelius Aurelius (ca. 1460-1531), best known for his Divisiekroniek .
