Complete in two volumes. 16mo, sewn binding with overcast stitching in fine black Morocco goatskin with gilt stamped spine lettering and bline stamped bands, gilt rolled dentelle, all edges art gilt, printed in red and black on fine paper with multi-colored place ribbons. With the original inserts 'Absolutiones et Benedictiones' and 'Propria Officia Civitatum Foederatarum Americae Septentrionalis.' Psalms newly edited by Pope Pius XII. With one original slipcase and plain black dust jacket (we believe but cannot confirm this is the publisher's original jacket with tapered corners); along with previous owner's carrying case, a lovely custom black cowhide with braided edges and red calfskin liner, his name stamped in gilt inside the flap. Some brief pencil glosses to the headings of a few psalms, but we are not holding this against the otherwise FINE condition, exceedingly clean and sharp with only the slightest patina to the spines but with pages entirely fresh and crisp, kept so by the cases and jacket, and apparently seeing little use in light of the departure from the Latin Mass following the Vatican II council shortly after publication.
