Publisher's mauve coloured cloth over bevel edged boards, the spines lettered in gilt, heads of spines very slightly pulled, but an attractive set nevertheless, and a very good plus set. Elizabeth Barrett Browning ( 1806 - 1881 ) was a major nineteenth - century woman poet. This collection includes in Vol. IV. ' Last Poems ' which are considered ' some of the most stringent and beautiful lyrics ' she ever wrote. Leigh Hunt called her ' the sister of Tennyson ', however one of her unknown reviewers remarks ' We object to this, and claim her as Shakespeare's daughter !
