Inhaltsangabe: Barefoot Gaijin: Loving Japan Without Losing Myself is Anne’s third book exploring Japanese culture. Throughout her fourteen years in Japan, Anne has struggled with trying to fit into Japanese society, but not lose her identity in the process. This book is a collection of essays exploring various aspects of the culture that have caused her to struggle the most, including religion, relationships, and parenting. While she has not yet figured it all out, putting her thoughts and feelings onto paper in this book has surely helped. She hopes that this book will encourage others living in a cross-cultural context that with a little work and a lot of thought, it is indeed possible to love your adopted country without losing yourself.
About the Author: Anne Crescini is a teacher at a university in Kyushu, Japan. She has spent most of her adult life in Japan, and hopes to spend the rest of it there, too. While she misses her family, Taco Bell, and gas station coffee, her heart is for the Japanese people. She is living her dream with her husband and three daughters.
