The collection burst onto the Dutch literary scene, earning three prestigious awards: the AKO Literature Prize, the Anton Wachter Prize, and the ECI Prize; the title story was honored with the Rabobank Lenteprijs for literature. The stories are like secret rooms, where one peeks through the keyhole to witness what is not meant for their eyes. Desire manifests as longing, but also as passion, aggression, drive, and will.
