Encounter! Reinhold Lindemann collected together 25 images from the world of art that depict the act of encounter - encounters with the ineffable - encounters that were political, diplomatic, familial, spiritual, or otherworldly; whether they are friendly or fraught with angst, the act of greeting another is always one which has meaning beyond that entailed in a mere physical act. This collection, which includes ancient, medieval and modern images created as paintings, engravings, sculpture and drawings is as thought-provoking as it is lovely. The plates are mostly in monochrome, although there are a few in full color, including the frontispiece. The text is in German. Der Text ist in Deutsch.
