Beschreibung
Botanical. Color offset lithograph. Page measures 23" x 20". Signature in pencil on the lower left corner, numbered 42/500. The Bessie tulip, one of a series of Old English tulips, is white with purple edges and markings. This color lithograph accentuates the delicacy of this tulip's striking patterns. Slight toning around edges not affecting the image. Rory McEwen (1932 - 1982) was an artist and musician born in Scotland. He studied at Eton and Trinity College in Cambridge and later settled in London. He began painting flowers when he was eight. He went on to become a musician and performer and a regular on the BBC's 'Tonight' eventually hosting 'Hallabaloo', a folk, blues and alternative music show. From 1964, McEwen shifted focus on his visual art career, developing his distinctive style. His work has been exhibited internationally and is in several museum collections, including the Tate in London. These wonderful Old English Tulip lithographs are rendered with scientific detail combined with a contemporary lightness and flair. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 321354
