This book is described as being for students who have already some grasp of English and wish to improve; but Bernard uses extracts from The Ancient Mariner, Oliver Goldsmith, and Alice in Wonderland for his lessons so it is actually teaching at a fairly advanced level and a fine introduction to English literature. The black and white illustrations are by Jennetta Vise. Condition: Very Good. The boards are only a very little worn. The pages are clean but slightly marked by tidy annotations in pen or pencil, plus one pencil mark (a child's) on the last end paper.
