New and cutting-edge forms of pedagogy such as distance learning, design-build, collaborative learning, and peer-to-peer practices are increasingly calling conventional teaching and learning environments, in architecture and other design disciplines, into question. Academic institutions in Western Europe, in particular, are faced with the challenge of rethinking standardized spatial structures and institutional hierarchies and adapting them to unconventional and radical teaching and learning concepts. GAM.18 explores anew the area of conflict between architecture teaching in universities and the teaching environment. It calls for spatial structures and working environments that enable the contemplation and design of architecture, and investigates teaching and learning methods that include critical consideration of the spaces and institutions in which the teaching takes place.

�ber die Autorinnen und Autoren

Petra Petersson is an architect, and founded the Realarchitektur office in Berlin in 2003. She has held a professorship at the Institute of Construction and Design Principles at TU Graz since 2013, and has been the dean of the Faculty of Architecture since 2018.

Christina Linortner has been a research associate at the Institute of Construction and Design Principles at TU Graz since 2013. Her current research focuses on the relationship between architecture and non-institutional teaching practices. She has been a board member of the Osterreichische Gesellschaft fur Architektur since 2014.

Petra Petersson ist Architektin und grundete 2003 das Buro Realarchitektur in Berlin. Seit 2013 hat sie die Professur an der Technischen Universitat in Graz am Institut fur Grundlagen der Konstruktion und des Entwerfens inne, seit 2018 ist sie Dekanin der Architekturfakultat.

Christina Linortner ist seit 2013 wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin am Institut fur Grundlagen der Konstruktion und des Entwerfens der TU Graz. Ihr aktuelles Forschungsinteresse gilt dem Zusammenhang von Architektur und nicht-institutionellen Lernpraktiken. Seit 2014 ist sie im Vorstand der Osterreichischen Gesellschaft fur Architektur.
