The Testimonial Edition of this extraordinary gallimaufry of esoteric literature, originally published by Mosher as an annual publication from 1895 to 1914 amounting to 20 volumes. In 1925 an "Analytical Index" was added as Volume 21 and this limited edition of 4,500 sets was published and "sold by subscription only". This is set number 812, or most of set number 812. Volumes 3 and 20 are missing. The subtitle is quoted elsewhere so suffice it to say that each volume is filled with lesser known works by well known writers. Or, as Mosher puts it in his preface to Volume 1, "exotics of Literature". Each little book is very nicely produced, with white spines, lettered in black and red and with faux raised bands. The boards are covered with a pale blue/grey Ingres paper which is also used for the endpapers and the dust jackets. The edges are untrimmed and in many cases unopened. This is a very good set overall. The bindings are clean, sharp-cornered and tight; the textblocks unmarked and fine. Each volume has a small bookseller's label on front pastedown. (I mean, of course, a bookseller's small label - I have no knowledge of the bookseller's size!) Only Volume 1 has a flaw - heavy dings to the foredges of the boards. Each volume has a dust jacket, in varying stages of distress from near fine to pretty poor, but the majority are very good - perhaps a little darkened on the spines with mostly minor chips and nicks. Naturally, the default shipping cost won't cover this 19 volume set, so expect a little extra shipping fee. And it's probably not economical for this to be sent overseas.
