A complete set of the Kingston Library 'Biggles' books that were republished from 1954-1955, all with the bright original dust wrappers. This set contains seven titles featuring the popular fictional air pilot, James Bigglesworth, nicknamed "Biggles" and created by World War One pilot Captain W. E. Johns.In 1954, The Thames Publishing Co. republished a set of Biggles books under their 'Kingston Library' series, with 'Biggles of 266' being published a year later in November 1955.All works are undated. Dated from research on the Kingston Library series and copies held institutionally.Each work is with the publisher's original dust wrappers, all unclipped with the exception of 'Special Air Police'.This set comprises:Biggles in the Cruise of the Condor - With a colour frontispiece. Biggles and his companions Algy, Ginger and Smyth are led to Soviet-Russia territory.Biggles of the Special Air Police - Biggles takes the role of Air Detective of Scotland Yard's Air Section in this collection of his early adventures.Biggles Pioneer Air Fighter - Thrilling stories capturing Biggles' pioneering days of air combat.Biggles o the Camel Squadron - Gripping short stories set during Biggles' early adventures as a fighter-pilot.Biggles of 266 - Another brilliant set of short stories of air combat in Biggles' pioneer days of the Royal Flying Corps. In the original cloth bindings. In the original dust wrappers, all unclipped apart from 'Special Air Police'. Externally, very smart, with shelf wear. Tide marks and paper residue to the boards of 'Black Peril'. Sunning to the spine head of 'Condor' and general fading to the spines of 'Black Peril'. Most dust wrappers are very smart. With marks to the wraps. Instances of chipping to the wraps of 'Black Peril' and 'Pioneer Air Fighter'. Closed tear to the tail of 'Camel Squadron'. With tape to the edges of the wrap of 'Pioneer Air Fighter'. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with light offsetting to the endpapers of '266'.
