One leaf, two sides printed, pages 195 and 196 (7 1/4 x 12 inch). Slight smudging across some text, one word unreadable. From side two: "By Virtue of an Order of the House of Commons, I do Appoint Edward Jones and Timothy Goodwin to Print this Bill; And that no other Person presume to print the same. Ro. Harley, Speaker". "London, Printed for Edward Jones in the Savoy, and Timothy Goodwin at the Queen's-Head against St. Dunstan's Church in Fleetstreet, 1703". English law in the late 1600's allowed Dissenters to worship outside the Church of England, but, such Dissenters could not hold office and were denied other civil rights. These laws were circumvented by taking communion in the Church of England very occasionally, but then otherwise worshiping in a Dissenting denomination. This version of the effort to prohibit "Occasional Conformity" states that not only must prospective office holders take communion in the Church of England, but they cannot them worship in any Dissenting Group that does not pray for the Queen of England. Offenders were to be fined, lose their office and be put on probation. The Law to prohibit occasional conformity was not passed until 1711. Very good clean copy.
