Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor: A graduate of Hiram College, William Heath has a Ph.D. in American Studies and has taught American literature and creative writing at Kenyon, Transylvania, Vassar, the University of Seville, and Mt. St. Mary's University, where he is a professor emeritus. The William Heath Award is given annually to the best student writer. In 2022, he received the Hiram College Lifetime Achievement Award.He has published four poetry books: The Walking Man, Steel Valley Elegy, Going Places, and Alms for Oblivion; two chapbooks: Night Moves in Ohio and Inventing the Americas; three novels: The Children Bob Moses Led (winner of the Hackney Award), Devil Dancer, and Blacksnake's Path; a work of history, William Wells and the Struggle for the Old Northwest (winner of two Spur Awards and the Oliver Hazard Perry Award); and a collection of interviews, Conversations with Robert Stone. Over four hundred of his poems have appeared in literary magazines and anthologies, as well as fifty reviews, and twenty essays in newspapers and scholarly journals. He lives in Annapolis.
