The Blau-Wei�-Bl�tter journal's first issued was in 1917 and the final issue was July 1924. It was founded against the background of the international youth movement that formed around 1900. The hiking association "Blau-Wei�" was founded in 1913 and was influenced by the East European Chaluz movement, the 'Wandervogel' or the Boy Scouts. It was the first Zionist youth association in Germany and had 3,000 members. Its main aim was to train young people to settle in Eretz Israel and do agricultural work there.
