Larry Day (1921-1998) was a distinguished painter and a dominant force in American art from the 1950s through the 1990s. Referred to as "the dean of Philadelphia painters," he was a charismatic teacher to several generations of artists, many of whom are important figures in the arts today. Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor: David Bindman is Emeritus Professor of the History of Art at University College London and Visiting Fellow at the Hutchins Center, Harvard University. Jonathan Bober is Andrew W. Mellon Senior Curator of Prints and Drawings at the National Gallery of Art. Eileen Neff is a Philadelphia-based artist who studied with and subsequently was a teaching colleague of Larry Day. Sid Sachs is Director Emeritus of Exhibitions at Rosenwald-Wolf Gallery, The University of the Arts. Ruth Fine is retired curator of special projects in modern art at the National Gallery of Art.
