Full leather over boards, title and decorations tooled into upper and lower boards, 5 band spine, 8vo (8-3/8 inches tall), pp. 641, (642); 48, "Cum privilegio." printed at foot of first title page, front and rear endpapers with the holograph family geneology of "Mary Tidmarsh, born July 4 1801 / Her Book / October 14 / 1832". Volume with rubbing and wear to corners with boards exposed, small pull to head of spine, vertical cracking to leather finish of spine, ffep and title page with large closed tears, occasional soil and browning to text, foxing to eps. The Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge (SPCK) is the oldest Anglican mission organisation. It was founded in 1698 by Thomas Bray (an Anglican priest), and a small group of friends.
