Early edition of The Book of Days, A Miscellany of Popular Antiquities edited by R. Chambers. Complete in two volumes. In half morocco bindings with gilt to the spines and the boards.Includes an anecdote, biography, and history of curiosities of literature and oddities of human life and character.With illustrated title pages with red and black engravings. Illustrations throughout the text of both volumes. In half morocco bindings with cloth boards. Externally, very smart. There is some bumping to the head and tail of the spines and to the extremities. The spines are slightly worn. The boards have a few faint marks. The hinges are starting. Internally, generally firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean. Very Good. Half Calf. Zustand: Fair. 1883 Edition. Complete in Two volumes. Size quarto, 832 and 840 pages. Bound in half brown calf over green cloth covered boards with gilt titles on morocco labels to the spines, marbled page edges and paste-downs and end-papers. Condition fair, the upper outer corner of the front board on volume 1 is damaged, the calf has gone and a lot of the board underneath has come away, it looks tatty, and inside the first 15 pages are also damaged in this area, the cloth is faded in places, looks like the boards have been wet at some point, the outer half of the boards on volume 2 are faded and also look like they have been wet, the calf on the spines is rubbed at the extremeties, previous owner's labels to each front paste-down with gift inscriptions on them, surprisingly the pages and illustrations are in nice clean condition inside.
