A very scarce 10th impression of S. Reynold Hole's book aimed with the desire to enlarge love for a garden. Very scarce tenth impression of Samuel Reynold's A Book About the Garden and the Gardener.This book's chapters contain short articles, some previously written and one previously published in the Guardian newspaper. Contents include articles on 'The Gardener's Dream' and 'The Joy of a Garden'. This lovely book aimed to introduce beginners and to reignite the gardener's love for gardening.Samuel Reynold Hole was an Anglican priest, author and horticulturalist. In his lifetime he received the Royal Horticultural Society's Victoria Medal of Honour, and he is memorialised by a life-size marble figure at Rochester Cathedral.Includes a monochrome plate front piece and adverts to the rear endpapers.Ink inscription from prior owners to front endpaper from Christmas 1910. In original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, very smart. Only minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Slight shelf wear to the spine and boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with some spotting to the endpapers. Ink inscription to the front endpaper from 1910. Tissue guard to the front piece is present and in tact.
