British-Israel-World Federation Congress; July 5th to 10th, 1920; Marshall Brothers, Ltd., 2 Crane Court, Fleet St., E.C.4, London. From the Preface The Inaugural Meeting of the Federation took place on July 3rd, 1919, so that the Federation had been in operation just one year. Just when this Movement began, it is difficult to say with exactitude, but it may certainly be stated that it was publicly proclaimed in the British House of Commons by one of the members thereof in the 17th century; and by Dean Abbadie in the 18th century. It is believed that the first two books on the subject were published in London in 1814 and 1816. Space does not permit us giving the names of hundreds of veterans and stalwarts who have taught it during the past 70 years or so, but among them we must certainly mention the late Earl of Radnor and Bishop Titcomb. And among those still with us are the Countess-Dowager of Radnor; the Earl of Dysart; and Sir Merton Russell-Cotes. It is owing to the continuous and devoted labours of these, and thousands of others, that the holding of the Congress has been made possible and have aroused an enormous amount of interest and enquiry through the British Empire and America. From our friends at Wikipedia - The British-Israel-World Federation, also known as the British-Israel World Federation was founded in London on 3 July 1919, although its roots can be traced back to the 19th century. The main patron of this movement was Princess Alice, Countess of Athlone. She attended the federation's first Congress in July 1920, and remained a patron of the BIWF until her death in 1981. William Pascoe Goard was involved in early negotiations of developing the BIWF and became vice president of the organization in 1921. In 1922, Goard founded Covenant Publishing, the BIWF's publishing company. He also became the first editor of The National Message. The National Message was published until 1981. The federation now publishes The Covenant Nations magazine. British Israelism (also called Anglo-Israelism) states that people of Western Europe descent, particularly those in Great Britain, are the direct lineal descendants of the Ten Lost Tribes of Israel. The doctrine often includes the tenet that the British Royal Family is directly descended from the line of King David. The British-Israel-World Federation, with its headquarters in the United Kingdom, has expanded to Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa and the Netherlands. Throughout the years, this organization enjoyed the patronage of members of the British establishment including The Duke of Buccleuch; Lord Gisborough; William Massey, Prime Minister of New Zealand; John Charles Montagu Douglas Scott, the Duke of Buccleuch; Lord Moubray St John of Bletso; The Countess-Dowager of Castlestewart; and Lady Smith Dodsworth. This book, the report of the seminal 1920 conference, 290 pages plus info and a Form of Bequest template, is in fine condition. It is half-bound in leather with marbled boards and endpapers, and all edges gilt. Whoever has this report bound spared no expense it is magnificent. Not enough to degrade its condition, it should be pointed out that a 3mm portion of the top spine edge gilt has worn away and the same at the bottom. At the time of this posting on the internet no other copies were listed. This is extremely rare, extremely important to the movement that exists today, and in unbelievable condition.
