Bound in original grey cloth with black titles. Some wear and a little staining to extremities, but otherwise a very good copy. Pictorial bookplate and 1934 inscription (on first free endpaper). Illustrated by one colour plate and 14 black and white plates and by 34 text figures. The first edition of the standard work on the butterflies of the Malay Peninsula, frequently revised and updated later. By the entomologists, Alexander Steven Corbet (1896-1948), former Soil Bacteriologist at the Rubber Research Institute, Malaya, and from 1939 at the British Museum (Natural History), London and Henry Maurice Pendlebury (1893-1945), Curator of the Selangor Museum, Kuala Lumpur, who did not long survive his experiences as a P.O.W in Singapore.
