First Edition. Very Good to Near Fine cloth, w/o dustwrapper. Austrian weird novellas by a Viennese poet, dramaturge, and fiction writer, a protégée of Rainer Maria Rilke. In the post-war period, because Lernet-Holenia had never gone Nazi like most Austrians, he became a cultural centerstone, editing an influential culture magazine. The tales in the present volume are "Baron Bagge," a ghost story set among Austrian dragoons of WWI; and "Count Luna" in which a war criminal is pursued by the specter of one of his victims. These stories reflect the values of the small Austrian resistance in context of an arch neo-Romanticism. Introduction by Robert Pick. Buchnummer des Verkäufers 5326
