An uncommon work.A collection of entertaining caricatures by Henry Heath, containing comical scenes of British society in the mid nineteenth century.Sections in this volume are titled 'Omnium Gatherum', 'The Art of Tormenting', 'Demonology & Witchcraft', 'Old Ways and New Ways', 'Scenes in London', 'Sayings & Doings', and 'Nautical Dictionary.'Illustrated with an engraved title page, and fifty-nine plates.Collated, complete.Undated, dated from Jisc from a copy held at the British Library.Henry Heath was from a family engravers, his father being Charles Theodosius Heath, and his two brothers being Frederick Augustus Heath and Alfred Theodosius Heath. In the original publisher's cloth binding, Externally, worn, with loss and lifting to the back strip. Light bumping to the extremities. Boards are lightly rubbed with a few light marks. Hinges are tender. Prior owner's ink inscription to the recto of the front endpaper. Front endpaper is detached but present. Bookseller's label to the rear paste down. Internally, generally firmly bound, a couple of leaves working loose, the title page is detached but present. Pages are spotted. Good Only. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 881P10
