An excerpt from this biography book on Carmelo Anthony's story:

“Nothing will work unless you do.”

These wise words were uttered by the young and immensely gifted Carmelo Anthony, who has not always been an outstanding player. He had the will, but he had to grow into the skill. He was crazy about basketball as a youngster, however, the small forward had to work hard to perfect his game. True enough, he eventually did, becoming one of the greatest scorers of all time. However, the journey came with a lot of challenges and criticisms along the way.

Since his start as a standout high school player, Carmelo Anthony was no stranger to tenacity and hard work. He evolved from a rough stone into a multi-faceted gem with staunch determination. Basketball fans have had both positive and negative things to say about Anthony and his impact on basketball. Some view him as a selfish ball hog who spent too much time showboating. They have even gone on to say that Melo was too caught up with putting up numbers instead of trying to help his team win.

On the other hand, others who delve a little deeper see him for the player he truly was. They hail him as a sensational scoring machine, desperate to earn a ring and be a hero to his team as well. He may even have been the most complete scorer the game has seen because there were no shots he did not like.
