One 8.5 cm b&w photo on 10 cm card. Rear states "Published by E. Anthony, 501 Broadway, new York from Photographic Negative in Brady's National Portrait Gallery." Small indentations on front. Pencil notation on rear states "Duke of Newcastle." This British politician was Secretary of State for War and the Colonies 1852-54. Photographer Edward Anthony became one of the founders of E. & H. T. Anthony & Company, largest manufacturer and distributor of photographic supplies in the United States during the 19th century. Anthony had a close business relationship with Mathew Brady.
