Beschreibung:

This Book is in Good Condition. Clean Copy With Light Amount of Wear. 100% Guaranteed. Summary: The book presents an axiomatic approach to the problems of prediction, classification, and statistical learning. Using methodologies from axiomatic decision theory, and, in particular, the authors' case-based decision theory, the present studies attempt to ask what inductive conclusions can be derived from existing databases. It is shown that simple consistency rules lead to similarity-weighted aggregation, akin to kernel-based methods. It is suggested that the similarity function be estimated from the data. The incorporation of rule-based reasoning is discussed. Buchnummer des Verkäufers

Readership: Graduate, research students and professionals in the field of economic theory and decision theory.

Über den Autor: Itzhak Gilboa was born in Tel-Aviv, Israel, in 1963. After obtaining a BSc in mathematics and computer science and a BA in economics, he studied mathematical economics with David Schmeidler and obtained his MA (1984) and his PhD (1987) in the field of decision theory.

Gilboa's research focuses on decision under uncertainty, and has worked extensively with David Schmeidler on axiomatic foundation of non-Bayesian decision theory. He has also contributed to complexity in game theory, evolutionary game theory, and social choice. He has recently published three books, an Econometric Society Monograph Series text, "Theory of Decision under Uncertainty", and two textbooks "Rational Choice" and "Making Better Decisions". Gilboa holds the AXA Chair of Decision Sciences at HEC, Paris, the Chair of Economic Theory and Decision Theory at Tel-Aviv University.

David Schmeidler is Professor of Economics at the Interdisciplinary Center in Herzliya. He is Professor Emeritus at Tel-Aviv University and at The Ohio State University. He received his Ph.D. in Mathematics from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem under the supervision of Robert Aumann.

He has made important contributions in the theory of individual decision making under uncertainty (decision theory). His most influential works include the theories of Choquet expected utility and Maxmin Expected Utility (the latter jointly with Itzhak Gilboa). These theories are applied to macroeconomics and financial markets. His research topics include economic theory, game theory, decision theory, and social choice.
