Light green, illustrated wrappers (5 ¼" x 7 ½"), 123 pp., illus. Small tears to spine ends and at two other places along the spine; cheap paper browning, but a VG copy of a fragile book. Only seven copies of either edition in WorldCat. First published in 1923, Phillips contends that the Roman Catholic Church is intolerant in a way which is, "(1) incompatible with the ordinary principle of self-defense, (2) antagonistic to the United States Constitution, (3) contrary to the main tenets of the Christian religion, (4) wickedly in opposition to Protestantism, (5) in conflict with the plain maxims of morality, and (6) she is unchangeable in all these things." Includes illustrations of events such as the Inquisition and facsimile Catholic documents. The Rev. John Albert Phillips authored a number of anti-Catholic books, at least one ("The Romish Position on Marriage) published by the Ku Klux Klan-affiliated New Menace Publishing house in Aurora, Missouri.
