Beschreibung
Reprint of a trial record from 1842. Beige wrappers with illustrated label affixed to cover. Title in black lettering on label. Mild soiling and toning to wrappers; minor creasing and shelf wear; slight wrinkling to label. Staple binding is tight. Interior has light foxing and minor creasing, otherwise clean. Laid in is a beige bookmark that reads, "With best wishes for the 1970 Christmas Season, John and Maureen Jenkins and John Holmes Jenkins IV." Very scarce in commerce; OCLC lists institutional holdings at the Library of Congress and the University of Texas, among others. Monroe Edwards was a notorious swindler, forger, smuggler, slaver, thief, and confidence man who operated in Texas, Mexico, Cuba, England, and the United States. After being arrested for forging letters, Edwards was the subject of a well-publicized trial in New York in 1842 during which he was convicted and sent to Sing Sing. This pamphlet presents a facsimile copy of the record of his trial. ; Folio 13" - 23" tall. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 024380
