From the foreword The Heritage Trust of Nova Scotia dedicates this facsimile Century Edition of Rogers Photographic Advertising Album to His Worship, Mayor Allan O Brien of the City of Halifax, who has done much to promote the future of his city and who believes that preservation of our outstanding landmarks is a part of that future. Those who know the City of Halifax and who look at the pictures in this album first published a century ago, will discover that in most cases they are looking at old friends who are still around. We are fortunate that so much of the Halifax of 1871 was recorded in photographs by Mr. Joseph S. Rogers and presented in this album form. Information concerning early collections of business photographs and advertisements is not readily available and it is possible that this album is fairly unique. This facsimile is printed in Canada by McCurdy Printing Co. Ltd., Halifax, Nova Scotia, through the facilities of the Petheric Press.
