Additionally there are some 26 pages of publisher advertisements plus four more on the inside covers. Bound in dark green cloth with front cover gilt illustration and gilt spine lettering. A very extensive Index is at the rear of Volume II. Illustrated with numerous in text images plus two full page maps of Ceylon in Volume I and two hand colored folding maps in Volume II. The folding maps open to about 11 by 14 inches and 13 by 20 inches. This is the Fifth and perhaps the preferred Edition of this book with 'introduction of new matter in numerous places, the careful revision and correction of the old, the re-engraving of some of the illustrations, and the insertion of several hundreds of additional references in the Index.' Tape repair inside Volume I at the rear cover hinge; rubbing to Volume II front cover bottom; two tears at spine of Volume II; spine cloth is a bit brittle. Inside of each volume is tight and clean.
