Sixteen (16) chapbooks aimed specifically at children, bound together in sequential order long ago by the publisher. Old quarter leather, marbled paper covered boards, leather spine gilt ruled & lettered. All issued New York, The American Tract Society, c. 1833-35. Each 16 pp., profusion of charming small woodcuts throughout. Themes include slaves, agriculture, baking bread, military, drums, etc. Published individually, bound by the publisher into a sammelband. One normally finds these types of chapbooks individually and randomly, only rarely bound together like this. It would close to impossible to assemble a consecutive run like this today no matter how much time or money you had. Scarce/ rare thus. All paper juvenile booklets and ephemera of this era is inherently uncommon, most was destroyed during handling by youthful hands. List of the chapbook titles 1. Address to a Child.2.
