THE CHERRY BLOOMS OF YEDDO AND OTHER POEMS BY CLARA M. ARTHUR 1881. I am pleased to be able to offer for your consideration a lovely little book of poems, with some occasional engravings as illustrations. What makes this book a bit special is the handsome, understated cover decorations, bound in dark green cloth with black, gilt and silver gilt titles and images. Please find then: The Cherry Blooms of Yeddo, by Clara M. Arthur. This small hard cover book (6 ¼ x 7 ½ inches, 140 pages) was published by D. Lothrop & Company of Boston, dated (copyright) 1881. There is no mention of any further editions and I am assuming that this is the First Edition. There is a small introductory note which explains that this book was inspired by the Cherry trees along a river near Yeddo (as Tokyo is now known). I found the poems engaging; there is one about a cod fish! Please see the photo of the Table of Contents for your further information. Condition: This book is in very good condition. The hard covers are really outstanding, with handsome, unblemished decorations and cloth, showing just the most minimal sign of bumping. Inside, the book is unmarked and the pages and plates clean albeit a bit toned, without affecting the text. Both hinges are intact and the binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 144
