Hard back binding in publisher's original emerald green cloth covers, gilt title lettering to a re-backed spine, preserving the original cloth, new end papers, gilt block title and central gilt decoration to the upper panel, all page edges gilt. 8vo. 7¼'' x 5½. The first known children's book with Kronheim plates, with 'The Child's Companion and Juvenile instructor,' both published in 1852. Osborne page 147. Contains 76 printed pages of text with 6 attractive plates printed in colour by Kronheim & Co., and monochrome illustrations.
