This is a later edition--jacket lists books published in 1922. This VG book is format #2 (black lettering, plain end pages) is square, very clean, with no bumped corners, lightly bumped head and heel of the spine, without fabric damage; top edge of front board has several tiny spots of wear. Spine has no signs of wear--lettering and illustration are both intact. The front panel illustration is very clean and intact. Both the FFEP and RFEP have an inked name; other than that, the interior is completely free of writing, stray marks, stains and page damage. Paper is lightly toned and very flexible; hinges are quite strong and undamaged. It also has three short excerpts ( Van Zandt and His Wives , Black Art in Cincinnati and My Nellie s Blue Eyes ) after the end of the story. The G+ jacket has small chips at the heel of the spine and at the top of front and rear panels; but it also has discoloration at the top of the front panel (see photo) from tape since removed; there remains a small piece of tape visible on the top of the rear panel, but there are about a half dozen strips of scotch-type tape on the reverse side of the jacket.
