Anastatic edition of the three original (and only) Cercle et Carré journals of 1930; published by the Lorenzelli di Bergamo and Martano di Torino galleries in 1969. Limited edition of 1,000 - this one is stamped: 0858. The coverage includes articles plus b/w drawings, photos and illustrations on architecture, art, poetry, cinema etc; with the second edition featuring a catalogue for the Circle et Carré movement's exhibition at Galerie 23 in Paris. Orange/red card boards with titles and the modernist movement's logo prominent in white at the top of the front card cover. There is a little scuffing around the edges and corners of both covers; with a seller's label on the bottom right-hand corner of the back one. Internally, the pages are slightly loose from the card covers. The main condition issue is the level of tanning and spotting on some of the pages. While this effect does not in the main undermine the clarity of the text, photos and designs it is very much in plain sight - see images. There is one double page in particular which also displays some damage similar to a closed tear - see image. Despite these condition-related issues, this is a facsimile publication which is impressive in its visual style and content; featuring the works of some of the most recognisable artists and architects of the early 20th century. The journals are in French, the commentary at the end is in Italian. Unpaginated. 4to.
