Oldmixon originally brought up his opinions against Clarendon in his 1724-1726 work 'Critical History of England', with the claims that Clarendon only provided satirical portraits of the parliamentary figures, and wrote from a biased royalist point of view.Amongst those who opposed Oldmixon's publication was Dr Zachary Grey; this volume is a direct reply to Grey in which Oldmixon defends himself. In a full calf binding. Externally, rubbed. Front joint is starting but firm, rear joint is a little cracked to the tail. Loss to the head and tail of the spine, bumping to the extremities resulting in some loss of leather. Marks and a little discolouration to the boards and spine. Hinges are starting a little but remain firm. Spots to the endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned and generally clean with some scattered spots. Good.
