VERY RARE gilded & embossed illustrated hardcover book. "A Clerk of Oxford" By Evelyn Everett-Green. From the Historical Tales by E. Everett-Green series, Edition unknown, published by T. Nelson and Sons, 1900. Thick & heavy item. 8vo, 19.8 cm x 14.8 cm x 5 cm. Blue cloth-covered bevelled boards with gilt embossed lettering & decoration on spine & front cover, Clear embossed publisher's logo on back cover, Top edge gilt, Tissue-guarded illustrated title page, no dust-jacket. 461 pages. Weight: 870 Grams. CONTENTS ARE LIKE NEW!!! However, there are several cracks between pages throughout, including between front pastedown & endpaper. Spine is discoloured & scuffed, bumped & frayed either end, gilt & decoration slightly dulled but fully visible. Cover is scuffed, marked & discoloured, some scratches & bumps, slight bubbling of cloth in places, edges bumped, faded & worn. Corners are bumped & frayed, board exposed on one of them. Gilt dull & scuffed on top edge. Pastedowns & endpapers slightly marked & creased. Large damp stains on illustrated title page. Some pages (very few) have smudges/marks mostly in margins, and/or corner folds/creases, and/or creasing alongside spine, and/or small pencil marks in margin. Light age tanning & occasional foxing throughout, more pronounced on endpapers & pastedowns. VERY RARE ITEM, BEAUTIFUL INSIDE!!! Full title: "A Clerk of Oxford and His Adventures in the Baron's War".
