These poems were originally published in Paris, but pirate copies were distributed in the United States. This volume meets the criteria of Hangman, 2nd Edition, pp. 68-69, as the First US, publication of this title, e.g. size of paper, order of poems, and the number of pages, 24. The paper covers are toned and soiled, and there are folds to the corners, the last leaf is missing the upper corner. The stapled, wired, binding are not rusted and the pages remain solidly bound. There are no rips or tears to the pages, and they are free of pencil marks, except for a gift inscription on the "Miscellaneous Poems" page dated "Oct. 55" in pencil.
