This book focuses on the law as it affects landlords and tenants approaching the end of an existing commerical lease. It is not intended to deal with the relationship of landlord and tenant during the currency of a lease, but is a guide for solicitors and surveyors regarding the operation of the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954 in order to ensure that tenants fully protect their rights and landlords are able to maximize the potential of their property. The interpretation of any Act of Parliament is left to the courts who have evolved a body of case law to explain the principles and the working of the Act.
