An impressively large copy of this exhaustive Victorian guide to the keeping of cattle. "A compendium of husbandry embracing the breeding, management and diseases of stock; dairy farming and dairy produce; poultry and poultry farming; farm offices, implements and machines; cultivation & management of crops and grassland; drainage, irrigation, and warping; manures, their application and value; etc." Originally written by the English veterinary surgeon William Youatt (1776 1847), this thirteenth edition has been "re-written, considerably enlarged, and brought up to the present requirements of agricultural practice" by William Fream. Profusely illustrated throughout. In a half straight-grain morocco binding with cloth covered boards. Externally, boards a little rubbed but otherwise smart. Backstrip rather more worn with some bumping and closed tears to head and tail. Hinges held by cords only. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with only occasional spots and marks, most notably small ink stain to upper fore-edge of first few pages. Royal Agricultural College stamps to title and half title. Good Only.
