Representative Citizens. Published 1917, New York by the American Historical Society.5 volumes, each c. 400 pages. Text in English. Profusely illustrated throughout with countless full page portraits of prominent men of this state. There doesn't appear to be an index nor are the listings alphabetical. Attractive antiquarian 1/2 leather bindings, raised bands, gilt title lettering, cloth clovers, marveled end papers. Set is physically old and shows some signs of handling and time. One of the volumes has a couple small puncture holes near the base of the spine (see close-up pic), some general wear overall to bindings, still handsome on the shelf and presents well. Bindings gently age worn but still appealing, leather and joints lightly rubbed, small scrapes or scuffs to covers, some sun fading to some cover edges, but still supple, set remains overall very attractive as an object. Text block paper is gently age toned as typical, internally book remains mostly clean, tight and sound. A set which has been taken care of but may/ does not look like new. Still attractive on the shelf. Set displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in rather nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws seem easy to overlook or forgive. Please review photos for more detailed attempt to present this monumental set as it survives.
