A very good copy of the 1790 (MDCCXC) edition of de Lolme's classic examination of the English constitution, which John Adams praised as "the best defence of the political balance of three powers that ever was written." Binding is full leather, with moderate wear and rubbing at the extremities of the boards, and some surface splitting of the binding at the spine seams. Front and rear boards remain firm: no wobble whatsoever. Previous owner's name in ink to top of title page, else the text is unmarked.
