With commentary on the clergy, King, and the Pope, as well as social and political influences at the close of the Middle Ages. Written by William Stubbs, an English historian and Anglican bishop who, in his lifetime, was appointed Regius Professor of Modern History at the University of Oxford, Bishop of Chester, and Bishop of Oxford. Bound in full calf with gilt. Externally, smart with rubbing to the extremities and fading to the spine. The odd small mark to the boards with library ink marks to the tail of the spines. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot. Further spotting to the endpapers with library ink stamps to the front endpapers. Very Good.
