Cooke s Illustrations to the British Theatre. Printed in London by Charles Cooke. 1821, 8.5 x 5.25 , 8vo, hardcover original 3/4 leather boards. Overall good, with rubbing and wear to edges and corners of boards. Chipping and wear to leather on spine, primarily down right-hand side. Some cracking to hinges at front and rear. Text block remains bound well and illustrations remain nicely preserved. Modern inscriptions at front of book, with bookplate remnant to front pastedown. General age-related toning to pages, along with periodic foxing and wear. Please see photographs and ask any questions prior to purchasing. A scarce piece designed to accompany Bell s British Theatre, with engravings created between 1816 and 1821. Some illustrations based off of influential paintings and painters, among them Fuseli and Francesco Bartolozzi. Includes 55 unnumbered plates. COLI1821DLMB.
