Michael Maittaire, (1668 - 1747), was a French born British classical scholar, bibliographer, and typographer. From "the early 1700s he devoted himself to scholarship and began to publish extensively, nearly seventy individual works being attributed to him, mostly in the fields of classics and typography. He lived for much of his life at various residences in London. In a full contemporary calf binding. Externally, rubbed to the extremities, with a small section missing from the front and rear board, and one small instance of past worming to the spine. Internally, firmly bound.
