Sweet Little Birdie
Sweet little birdie, colored blue, Teach me how to soar like you.
Sweet little birdie, tweet for me. Spread your wings, and fly so free.
Sweet little birdie, sing my tune. Fly to the sky, and touch the moon.
Eclectic Poetry
Polka dots, polka dots, on my suit, Squares and stripes on one boot.
Top hat, top hat, on my head, My other boot is colored red.
Sidewalk, sidewalk, I don't care. You are in need of repair.
Hopscotch, hopscotch on one foot, I jumped over a big tree root.
Chicken pox, chicken pox, sick in bed. Every pock is turning red.
Lollipop, lollipop, what a treat! This sticky mess is so sweet.
Bubble gum, bubble gum, yum yum yum. Chewy fun, I love gum.
Tiptoe, tiptoe, very slow. Quiet as I come and quiet as I go.
Gingerbread, gingerbread, what a taste. I bake well, there is no waste.
Goosebumps, goosebumps, freaky chill, Hair stands up, what a thrill. Barefoot, barefoot in the park. Better get home before it's dark.
Tadpole, tadpole, swimming feet. Gotta admit you are neat.
Lily pad, lily pad in the bog, Looking around, I see a frog.
Cattails, cattails near the bank. Water got deep, and the frog sank.
The Viking
The Viking had a striking physique. All his attributes gave him mystique.
All the queen's daughters wanted that guy Except for her youngest, for she was shy.
Shyness is enchanting, the Viking thought. So every day, he tried and fought.
For him, her love was not meant to be. For she was in love with me.
If
If I were a horsefly, big and strong, I would fly around all day long.
If I were a stock car made to go fast, You as a driver would have a blast.
If I were a lily pad and you were a frog, I'd let you rest on me in the bog.
If we were eagles with wings to soar, Flying for us would not be a chore.
The Bear
What a nice chair-big enough for a bear? He's about to sit in that chair. Oh dear, he has broken the chair. Why isn't he in his lair? You know, that bear has red hair, And he doesn't like to share. Oh no, the bear has just noticed me and is giving me a glare. With the bear in front of me, I give him a stare. As the bear approaches, I say, "Don't you dare." Then the bear runs away, and this story I do share.
Lucky Frog
Leaping, jumping deep into the bog. That big old dog is chasing after that frog. Just a few more feet, and that frog will meet defeat. That big old dog is gaining, and the frog is draining. Whoa! Something distracted that big old dog- What a lucky frog.
Royal Castles in the Sky
Royal castles in the sky, Spoiled princess dribbles pie. Caramel drizzled smudge. "Hey, where's my fudge?"
Quacking Song
Ducky feet Stepping to the beat. Waddling fast To the pond at last. Water chills, Ducky thrills. Fishing wonder Diving under. Quacking song All day long.
Fun Stories
The dog barks at the tree. It seems silly 'cause he can't see.
A cat makes its way down the hall, And it looks like he is having a ball.
A spider is dancing on the wall. Oh no, it looks like he'll fall!
An owl only comes out at night. Oh, I wish I could see him in the light.
The Crook
Look, that guy is a crook Because he took the cookbook. He's getting away! He'll have to repay. I wish he didn't stray. Watch him skip, flip-trip! He hurt his hip and busted his lip. Someone will have to pay his bail So he can get out of jail. This is my tale.
The Bum
I saw a bum on the street with a makeshift tent. Perhaps he ran out of money and couldn't pay the rent. His hand-written sign says "Will work for food." I saw a rich guy avoid him-how rude. I wish I could help in some way. I wonder if he goes hungry every day. My dad says that most bums aren't real. He said that most of them just beg, borrow, and steal. He says they dress up like bums because it pays well. To me, that seems like a job from hell. If it is true, it is not funny. But now, I will think twice before handing over money.
Never Good to Fight
I thought I was really bright When I picked on him to fight. I can honestly say, I thought I was right. But it came clear to me tonight: It is never right to fight. I guess for once, I am right.
My Lizard
I can't believe that lizard Is out there in the blizzard. She is freezing and sneezing And wheezing out there. She's been in the cold for a while, And saving lizards is not my style. But I need to do something fast Or this lizard will not last. What could I do to keep her warm In the storm? I will bring her a mink and a hot drink. Now that I've fed her She is looking much better. I found this big box And these fine rocks. It could be her new home. She'll have room to roam. I hope she'll stay with me. If not, I'll have to set her free.
The Best for Last
Pool tables, pool fable, Swift, swift, what a gift. The hot-shot's Corner-pocket call. Rick-a-sha, rick-a-sha, rick-a-sha ball. The eight ball smiles, what a blast Always, always, always last.
The Star
My friend is a slob Who is looking for job. He goes from place to place. No one ever looks him in the face. He wonders why he never gets anywhere. Perhaps it's because he doesn't comb his hair. He never matches. And his pants are full of patches. I helped him modify his look, And that was all it took. It is really bizarre- Now he looks like a star.
Environmental Plantation The chemical plant near a pond is full of logs. I was amazed, I found a three-legged frogs. When I went back there in the fall, I found a two-headed bird, but that's not all. I kept on finding animals with strange defects; Most people would call them rejects. My mommy says they should close the plant. But the town wouldn't survive, so they can't. I think is plain to see: If it does this to the animals, what is it doing to me?
The Fable
If this story is a fable, then I am able. "I want to be me," said the bee. "Free, can't you see? I want to fly high and touch the sky. Which direction should I go?" I said to the crow. "You could go forth, to the north, Or west, to the best, Or east, and fly the least. Go south-see a lake. The choice is yours to make. In the sun you will bake. When you're flying, you'll get hot. So you'd better pick a good spot." So I said, "I guess I will go to the west, I hear it's the best." Lucky me, I found a tree with a nest for me to rest. I guess the west was the best. Did I pass...
