D'AVILER, Augustine, Charles. [++] Engraving by Pierre-Jean Mariette. Paris, C.A. Jombert, 1756. "Nouvelle edition". [++] This is a library copy, boud in heavy cloth. The binding is not pretty but it is intact, and the binding makes this a very useful volume. [++] The engraved plates are a little difficult to unravel to determine if this volume is complete, as the numeration is a little convoluted. That said, it seems as though the text and the engraved plates are complete. The text: 11.5"x 8.25"; pp 3-6,(ii), (xxxviii), (iii), (vii), 408, (40). The 152 plates as they appear: frontis, 4, A, B, C, 1-12 13/14 (on one sheet), 15-43, 44a, 44b, 44, 45-51, 51a, 51b, 52-57, 58a, 58b, 59a-d. 60-62, 63a-t, 63 v, 63x, 64a, 64b, 65a-d, 66a, 66b, 67-92 (92x2), 98a, 98b, 98a, 99a, 99b, 99d, 99c, 99d, 99f-99s, 100, 101a, 102, 103. (These seem complete according to the eight-page index for the "figures".) Also worth noting is the unnumbered 40pp index section at rear. [++] CCONDITION: there is a perforated library stamp on title and in the corner of one plate, but that's it for markings in the text. There are also a couple of rubber stamps on the front and rear paste downs. About a dozen of the plates have short tears that were repaired many decades ago. The overwhelming amount of the text is clean and bright. VG condition. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers ABE-1636815933330
